Seven Months!

Adelaide turned 7 months old yesterday!

_MG_7367

Adelaide, here is what you have been up to…

  • I think you are about 16/17 lbs. You wear mostly size 6m clothes. Your 0-3 onesies are finally getting too small and your 0-3 pants are too short.
  • You have your two bottom teeth and I think a couple of top teeth are close to coming through. Some days I see little white dots and then the next day, they disappear.
  • You officially sleep through the night. Like 7:30-7:30. You finally figured out how to roll back onto your tummy so I started to just leave you when you flipped over at night. Sometimes you wake up a little early, but you are content to hang out in bed until I get you around 7:30. Little one, it only took you 4 months longer than it took your brother to do this, but hey whose counting. ;)
  • Most days you only take two naps. Usually 2 hours in the morning and 2-2.5 hours in the afternoon. If you wake really early from your afternoon nap, you will still take a catnap in the late afternoon.
  • You still take 5 bottles a day and you hate puree food. I finally gave up this week and just gave you some plain roasted zucchini slices. You LOVED them. Since then, we have decided to just go with a more Baby Lead Weaning approach. So far, you are a big fan and it is so easy for me since I can just put stuff out on your tray.
  • You have started sitting in the shopping cart when we run errands. So far, I ‘m not sure if you like it or not. You just kind of sit and look around.
  • You still LOVE to watch Aedan and you have started to smile more at Hiro too.
  • You like to bounce in your jumper, swing outside and sit on the floor with a bunch of toys.
  • You are pretty smiley and happy most of the time but you are not too sure of strangers.
  • You have started “talking” more this month. You mostly talk when Aedan is gone or asleep, which is probably because he is always talking so you can’t get a word in. I’m sure you will learn to speak up as you get older. :)

Adelaide, you are such a sweet baby. We love you so so much!! Love, your mommy

Because I Don’t Want to Forget…

…all the things you say and do.

Aedan, you are 3 years and 2 months old. I am sure I will do a 3.5 year update, but I thought I should record some of the stuff you say and do because some of it is too cute and funny.

  • You are pretty good with pronouns most of the time. You talk about your house and my car, etc. But whenever you want to ask a question about something you did it always comes out “What my watch last night?” “What my eat?” and my favorite when you are try to figure out the name of some movie or game “What my talking about?”
  • Which lead to the next thing you say all the time…”last night”. If it happened in the past, you label it as happening last night. It could have actually been last night or it could have been 6 months ago…its all “Last night I….”.
  • You love to pretend like you are rescuing someone or fighting off a robot or giant. Probably your favorite game is for someone to lay down on the floor between the couch and the ottoman and pretend to need help. You are either Buzz, Fireman Sam or Mr. Incredible. Never mind the fact that it takes you about 15 minutes to actually rescue the person. You spend all that time, getting supplies, getting hats, putting hats away, dropping a rope, picking up a rope, swinging the rope, and on and on.
  • You take num num to school with you but you keep in it your cubby. Your teacher says sometimes you ask for it and she asks you why and you tell her “I think I just need to cry for my mommy for 1 minute”.
  • When you get in trouble, you always tell us we made you sad by putting you in time out.
  • At night if you come out of your room after bedtime, you get a spanking, which you call a “spank”. Every time we give you one, the next morning you tell us to spank you nicely. And you demonstrate a light tap on your leg.
  • You like to list off all the people you love all the time.

Five Things Friday

  • We are going on day 9 without Daddy being home. He is off in Sydney leading a training. Am I jealous? Um yes! We thought about figuring out a way to have me go with him, but I’m thinking my first trip away from Adelaide probably should not be halfway around the world. :) Check out his hotel room view though…
  • Aedan only has one more week of school. When I think back about his first day, he seems like such a toddler then (and I was much rounder!). Now he seems like a little preschooler! We have had such a wonderful year and LOVE his teachers so much, it is going to be sad for it to end.

  • Yesterday I hosted a play group for the babies in my moms group. It was a little less crazy than Aedan’s play group, ha! It was fun to get together with some moms with little ones Adelaide’s age. I think Adelaide was surprised to see babies at her house since it usually always bigger kids.
  • This is one of Aedan’s school pictures. I don’t have a digital copy and our scanner is broken so this is a picture of the picture. But seriously, how cute is he? His teacher said it was all nervous at first and then all of a sudden just started posing for the camera. Ha!

So Different

We can already tell that Aedan and Adelaide have pretty different personalities. It’s so fun to see little differences come out.

I shot this little clip of Adelaide’s reaction to the vacuum cleaner.

It makes me laugh because it is a much different reaction from Aedan’s at just a few months older. :)

Siblings

Now that Adelaide is getting older and more interactive, it is so fun to watch both kids interact.

She loves Aedan. If she is upset and he comes over, she immediately smiles at him. When he is upset, she gets a really worried look on her face. In fact on day last week, Aedan was pretending to be a baby crying and after watching him with a worried look for a bit, she started crying with him. Lovely. Ha!

Aedan is liking her attention too. He loves when I sit with her in my lap and narrate whatever he is doing. He will look over and tell me to make her “wook” at him.

He also likes to tickle her and obviously she likes it too. :)

The Eye Brow

When I dropped Aedan off at school earlier this week, his teacher showed me a picture she had of Jon and Aedan. She thought it was funny because Jon was doing his eye brow thing. I laughed and told her that Adelaide can do the same thing…

She makes a lot of the same faces Jon does. I think she may look a little more like me when I was a baby, but she definitely takes after Jon a bunch.

Quick Draw

A few months ago we (read: Jon) thought it would be fun to get Aedan some “lasers” to play with. We bought one Star Wars one and then a set of Toy Story ones. The Star Wars one is a bigger hit and right after we bought it, Jon said he wished he had gotten one too so they could play together.

So over the weekend while I was at Target, I picked up a second one. That night Jon and Aedan stayed up way past Aedan’s bedtime hunting the giant (aka Hiro). It was a huge it!

This is pretty much what goes on around here all the time…

Aedan is so dramatic! This was right before bedtime thus the no pants, but honestly he rarely wears pants around the house regardless of the time. When we get home from being out, he will tell me he needs to take off his shoes, socks and pants. Ha! The other day, I asked him if he just wanted to wear shorts with no shirt. He looked at me like I was crazy and told me that would be silly. :)

This and That

I had a great Mother’s Day weekend. On Saturday, we met up with Jon’s extended family for brunch and then just came home and relaxed all afternoon. Sunday was more of the same. Hanging out and relaxing at home.

Yesterday it was warm enough for us to go to the pool after nap time. I think Adelaide is about done with her late afternoon catnap, which is perfect because now we can easily go out in the early evening. We met up with some friends at the pool in the neighborhood next to ours. Aedan at a blast and Adelaide was pretty content just sitting in my lap.

I got Aedan and Adelaide’s swim suits at different times and different stores, but they ended up coordinating perfectly. They looked so cute. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures because going to the pool with two little ones keeps you pretty busy. :)

I did get this cute one at bath time. I can’t believe she is already old enough to sit in the bath ring. This morning I took her to the grocery store and let her sit in the cart for the first time. I think time really does go by faster with the second baby!

20130513_184535

I am on day 18 of the 30 Day Shred. It has by far the furthest I have gotten in the program since I bought the DVD 3 years ago! I skipped on weekend day in level 1 and I skipped one day in level 2, but other than that I have been doing it every day. So far so good. I measured myself after level 1 and had some good results. Hopefully I will have even better ones to share after levels 2 and 3!

I have also been going to Zumba at the gym. It is super fun, I’m really enjoying it.

I’m thinking about printing out my blog in book form since it is basically our family scrapbook. Anyone have an programs they recommend for doing so? Originally I was going to do it by topic, like have a book with all of Aedan’s monthly updates and one with Adelaide’s. But the more I think about it, I think I want to just do a yearly one. I like going back and reading the random weekend updates or mid week phone picture posts. Hopefully someday Aedan and Adelaide will like to go back and read about them too.

Almost Summer Time!

I can’t believe it is almost summer time. Aedan only has a few more weeks of school…ah! I remember last summer, when I thought about him going to school twice a week it made me a little sad. I felt like he was going to be gone so much. Now I am wondering what in the world we are going to do without school twice a week. Haha!

Luckily we have a great moms group out here and I think we will have weekly playgroup plus some other fun activities going on each week. I also signed him up for swimming lessons with a couple of kids from his preschool class. Should be fun to watch!

We just joined the YMCA out here too. I have been working on losing the rest of the baby weight I am caring around. I’ve got 7 lbs. left from Adelaide and 5 lbs. left from Aedan, then if I am really honest I’d like to lose another 5 lbs. after that. In chunks it doesn’t seem like much, but all together it is. Anyway, I have been using the MyFitnessPal app to count calories and I am doing the 30 Day Shred…I start level 2 today! I told Jon for Mother’s day all I wanted was to lose 5 lbs., so he signed us up for a family membership at the Y. So excited! I went yesterday for Zumba and I am sure I looked like a fool, but it was fun! Aedan had fun in the Child Watch area too (I left Adelaide at home to nap while Jon worked).

Jon and I are planning to take the first week in July off as a “staycation”, because the thought of taking trip with both kids in tow sounds like way too much work for us. It will be nice to just have a week off from work and enjoy some family time!

Anyone else have fun summer plans? How are you keeping your kids busy this summer?

Oh and check out the squirrel, he loves our bird seed…I catch him hanging upside down trying to get it out of the bird feeding at least a couple of times a day.

Phone Pictures

One day last week, Aedan decided this was his new costume. He wore it all day! He has a food basket on his head, he is holding his Buzz laser and has play tongs on his ankle. I have no idea where he got this, but it made me laugh!

20130501_113837

Apparently it is never to early to start accessorizing!

20130425_114432

Aedan loves to drive. He will go play in my car in the garage all the time. He just sits in the drivers seat and pretends to be driving everywhere. Sometimes we let him drive with us to the end of the neighborhood. Of course he needed to wear my sunglasses also.

20130503_171431

Adelaide started sitting up on her own the day after she turned six months. She is still not super steady, but she is getting better!

20130501_185127

Aedan has gotten so much better at driving his jeep. He even got to drive it all the way to the park last week. He drove Adelaide around the yard too (don’t worry, Jon was holding her the whole time they were actually moving). :)

20130425_185250

We have been playing outside a lot lately. Adelaide and Aedan both love to swing!

6 Months!

Adelaide turned 6 months yesterday! Crazy!!

_MG_7280

Adelaide, here is what you have been up to lately…

  • You weigh about 15 lbs. and are 25 inches long, which puts you in the 25th percentile for both.
  • You have two bottom teeth and the doctor said your upper gums are swollen so those may be coming through soon. Sheesh!
  • You wear size 3 diapers and size 6m clothes.
  • You finally started taking bigger bottles this month. You take 5-6 ounces 4 time a day and a 4 ounce bottle after your catnap in the evening.
  • You wake up around 7:30 and take a nap from 9-11/11:30, another nap from 1-3 and a catnap from 4:30-5:30, then you go down for the night at 7:30.
  • You finally sleep through the night! You usually flip over on your back and get stuck between 4-5 am so we were going in and flipping you back over so you would go back to sleep. This week we decided to let you figure out how to get back to sleep on your back or figure out how to turn over. You cried for about 5 minutes the first night and since then, you have just been sleeping on your back until the morning.
  • You have tried oatmeal, apples and sweet potatoes. So far you are not interested in any of them. Not interested as in, will not even open your mouth.
  • You love to be held, especially by daddy and to play on your play-mat. You like to jump in the jumper and swing outside too.
  • You love to smile at us, especially Aedan.
  • I think I successfully got you attached to a lovey. This time it is actually a lovey and not a sheet protector like your brother. It is funny, because you do the exact same thing Aedan does. You bring it close to your mouth and make a sucking sound. I noticed you doing the same thing to your sheet protector around 3 months or so, so I just started sticking this lovey in your face all the time. :) And it worked! You love it!

_MG_7240

  • You are pretty easy going. You only get fussy when you are tired or hungry or if both daddy and I are gone.
  • You do pretty well running errands, although I am excited for you to get a little older so you can ride in the cart.
  • You are thisclose to sitting up on your own. You do pretty well with a pillow behind you, but you tend to flop over to the side pretty quickly.
  • You have grown up so much this month. I love seeing your personality come out more and more!
