Catching Up and 2 Week Appointment

First off, I really need to transfer some pictures from my camera to my computer! I think that will be one of my goals for tomorrow. :)

Today Aedan had his 2 week check up. At our last appointment his weight had gone down to 7lbs and 1oz (he weighed 7lbs, 14oz at birth). By this appointment, the doctor wanted him to be back up to at least his birth weight…well he definitely accomplished that! My little guy weighed in at 8lbs, 10oz! I can’t believe he is getting so big, so fast! There are already a few newborn t-shirts that are too small for him.

Overall things are going pretty well. Monday was Jon’s first day back to work after taking 2 weeks off. It’s been a little hard for him to get back into the swing of things since we are still getting up twice a night with Aedan. Tonight I am going to try nursing Aedan in his room instead of ours so Jon can get some more sleep (he is a loud eater!).

This week I also started putting Aedan in his crib for naps during the day. The last 2 weeks we just kind of let him fall asleep wherever during the day. We had family in town and he would end up sleeping in someone’s arms, in his swing or in his bouncer. So far he has been doing really well napping in his crib. He cries for maybe 1 or 2 minutes and then is out. I like having him in his room because it makes me feel like I can get more things done around the house without worrying about waking him up. Jon set up a web-cam that I can pull up on my laptop or on our TV and I can see and hear what Aedan is doing in his crib.

Speaking of laptops…last week I got a new toy!

Inspiron 11z NotebookMy old laptop had a broken fan which made it super loud when running, and the battery was pretty much shot so it had to be plugged in all the time. This new laptop (yes, I got it in cherry red!) is perfect! It a little bit smaller than my old one and much lighter. I am loving it!!

Pictures later this week for sure!

It’s Nice to Be Home

We came home from the hospital Monday afternoon and it has been great to be back!

Jon has 2 full weeks off work and my parents have been in town all week. My mom has been so helpful by running errands for us and doing lots of cooking (our freezer is stocked)!

IMG_0690

Aedan is doing really well. We went to the doctor on Tuesday and they said he looked great. He weighed in at 7 lbs 1 oz so he had lost 13oz since birth. We go back on Friday for a weigh in to make sure he is gaining it back. My milk came in last night so hopefully he will start gaining weight now.

Jon has been great and he and Aedan are so cute together. We are just having fun hanging out at home as our little family.

Back Home

We are back from our last little road trip before Aedan arrives. We headed to Plano for the weekend for a baby shower.

A couple of my close friends and a couple of my mom’s close friends threw me a beautiful shower. It was a blast and we got tons of stuff (so much that it all didn’t make it back to Austin). Luckily my parents are coming down in a few weeks so they are going to bring the things that won’t fit in our car. I have some great pictures from the shower (thanks Alison), but I forgot to transfer them off my mom’s camera to my computer so I will have to add pictures later.

Right now Aedan’s room looks like baby stuff exploded everywhere. My goal is to get things washed and put away this week. I have a few appointments with some pedestrians this week, hopefully I will be able to make a decision by the end of the week.  We are getting close, only 40 more days!

Something to make your feet a little warmer

Last week I decided to break out the sewing machine I bought over the summer…you know the one I have used soooo much since buying it in August. Opps. I’m going to to blame it on having horrible morning all day sickness for about 15 weeks and then being busy with school.

I decided to make some rice filled toe warmers for Jon and I. I got the instructions here. She breaks everything down and has great pictures so it made it pretty easy.

Here is my final product

IMG_1914

I thought the fabric was cute and it matches our bedroom and living room so it looks cute wherever I leave it. I just heat it up for a couple of minutes in the microwave and it is great a warming cold toes or relieving sore backs (which is happening more and more often with me).

My photography class was great on Thursday night. I learned a lot in just one night, I can’t wait to see what I learn as the class goes on. He gives us assignments each week, which is perfect because it will force me to practice and hopefully that will help the information sink in.

I was playing around with my camera this morning and since Aedan is not here yet, this little big guy will have to suffer through being my subject for awhile. :)

As you can see he is thrilled.

We are going to lunch with Jon’s family today and then hopefully picked out a color to paint the nursery! I’m going to get Jon to take a 30 week belly picture today…I can’t believe I am already that far along! We have got to get busy!

Look What We Got

Remember when I mentioned that I wanted a Flip video recorder? Well my lovely husband did some researching and found this little guy for about the same price.

41NLfp- ELL._SL500_AA280_Not only is it a video recorder, it also takes still photos and has a zoom (something the flip does not have). The one perk that pretty much sold us on this one immediately, was that it is waterproof!!  Since we will probably be filming this little guy quite a bit and he LOVES the water, this is going to be perfect!

PPWeb_MG_3455

It just came last night so I haven’t had much time to play with it yet. We are planning on taking out to the Greenbelt this weekend…I am sure I will have some videos to post very soon! :)

Flip Video and South Padre

This weekend was pretty uneventful around our house. Jon and I ran errands on Saturday…are we they only ones that can not seem to stick to a list when we go to Costco?!? I mean there is so much we always want to buy!

I realllly want a flip video camcorder! They are at Costco right now, and I just need want one!! We have two at work, and we use them all the time to video tape therapy sessions. They are so easy to use and so small. I could be adding videos to my blog posts, how fun would that be?!?! Now I just have to talk Jon into letting me buy one. :)

flip_where2buy

Saturday night Jon headed down to New Braunfels for a job that was supposed to be from 9 pm to 1 pm. They ran into problems and he didn’t get to come home until 9 am! To make matters worse he had to go back Sunday night to finish up the job. Needless to say he slept pretty much all day on Sunday.

Sunday afternoon I went to one of my favorite client’s birthday party. It was at Pump It Up, which is a party place filled with inflatable playscapes. It was a blast…luckily I wasn’t the only adult who wanted to play so we all had a blast going down the slides and racing through the obstacle courses.

This morning I got to go to Vacation Bible School with one of my clients. So fun! Then this afternoon I had a great session with another client of mine. Usually Monday’s with him are pretty rough since he has had all weekend to do as he pleases (most Monday sessions involve lots of screaming and tantrums throughout the 3 hours I am there). It was nice to have a good Monday session to start off the week.

When I got home, Jon and I jumped on our bikes and went to check out a public pool about a mile away. Um..basically we concluded that we need to find a pool a little farther away from where we live. We live about 5 miles from downtown, and our neighborhood is pretty nice, but the area around our neighborhood is definitely up and coming. There is a lot of new construction, but there are still some sketchy parts. I talked with the lifeguard and found out there is a pretty new pool about 5 miles away. I looked it up and it looks pretty nice, I think I may go check it out tomorrow.

I have Tuesday’s off ,so here is my optimistic to-do-list for tomorrow:

  • go to the bank to deposits checks and get a form notarized…did I mention I am taking defensive driving…ugh! I got a ticket a couple of weeks ago…50 in a 40…in my defense the speed limit went from 55 to 40 in a matter of feet. I happened to get the ticket literally 5 feet after the 40 mile and hour speed limit sign.
  • go to my doctors appointment…looks like clomid is in our near future.
  • get my rings cleaned…our jeweler (when I say “our jeweler”, keep in mind that we have only purchased our rings from here…not like I have tons of jewelry). Jon picked a great place to buy my rings, its a local jeweler and they recognize us every time we go in. The only downside is it’s in north Austin, so I don’t get my rings cleaned very often.
  • get my car’s oil changed…ugh.
  • maybe go to Old Navy to check out what’s new…is it sad that this is on my to-do-list?
  • laundry and cleaning up the house…why does it seem like every time I do laundry, the baskets seem to be just as full in a matter of days?!

On a random whim, Jon and I are thinking about taking a quick vacation to South Padre! I was looking through some friends pictures on facebook this afternoon while drinking coffee during my break. She just got back from Playa de Carmen…I immediately got on Google Talk and told Jon I wanted to take a beach vacation. We are thinking South Padre, because we can enjoy the beach and save some money by driving there (Jon has enough points to rent a car). Anyone have any recommendations on places to stay?

This weekend

Jon and I headed up to Plano for a quick family trip. We both took off work on Friday so we could skip Austin and Dallas Friday traffic. We got to Plano around 2 and dropped Hiro off at my parents house. My parents were kind enough to put us up in a hotel over the weekend (they are doing some remodeling so they thought we would be more comfortable there). So after dropping off Hiro we checked into the hotel and rested a little bit.

We meet up with my parents and sister at a cool outdoor shopping area in Allen. We had dinner at the Woodlands Grill. It was nice and relaxing, we ate outside and enjoyed the great weather. After dinner my mom and sister and I did some shopping. Our first stop was the Vera Bradley store. I have never had anything from Vera Bradley and I decided I needed to make my first purchase. I bought this cosmetic bag. 10385038

Cute right? It easily holds all the makeup that I use on a daily basis so it can just sit out on the bathroom counter and look cute. :)

On Saturday my family got up bright and early to go down to the Dallas Museum of Art. We checked out the King Tut exhibit.

It was very cool. We were also able to check out some other art at the DMA.

After lunch Jon and I decided to go test drive Subaru Foresters. Um…I know, we can be impulsive and random at times. We had been talking about wanted to get a bigger car in the future and Jon loves Subaru so he wanted me to check out the Forester. I love it!

Ultimately it will probably be another year before we get a new car. We decided we want to focus on the house this summer and do things like wood floors and then figure out the car stuff next year. But it was fun to look!

Saturday night my family enjoyed my Mom’s homemade lasagna. It was amazing!

This morning we headed back to Austin and now we are watching a few more episodes of LOST before Jon has to go to bed (he is waking up at 5 am to drive to San Angelo for work in the morning). All and all it was a great weekend. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get together with friends but it was great to spend time with my family.

glad to be back home

I got back from the TX ABA conference yesterday afternoon. I was exhausted! We had a lot of fun and learned some new things. It wasn't as good as the conference I went to in November, but it was still well worth it. Since we do mostly 1:1 therapy we don't get to see each other much outside of team meetings with clients it was helpful for us all to be together with lots of time to bounce ideas off each other and think about new things. We are thinking about starting a social skills group over the summer...I think it will be really fun. We are thinking 4 kids and 2 therapist...we would discuss things like making friends, conversation skills, and dealing with bullies.

When I got home my new iphone was waiting for me. I have been playing with it ever since and I LOVE it! It is so fun and the apps are endless. I don't think I will ever be able to go back to another type of phone. Jon is thinking of getting one when his plan is up...he is very anti Apple so that means this phone must be cool! :)

Jon and I slept in today, ran some errands and then took Hiro to play. We have a little bit of cleaning to do this evening and then we are going to make dinner and relax. A great way to end the weekend. We both have busy weeks coming up, but then next week is Spring Break. :)

i'm leaving on a jet plane...

Okay not really on a jet plane, more like in a car.

Tonight I am leaving for the Texas ABA conference in Houston with 3 other girls that I work with. I think its going to be a fun trip and hopefully we will learn lots of new things. :)

Guess what will be waiting for me when I get home?!

Yup, I now own an iphone! My nano, which was new about 4 years ago, has just about hit the dust. My current phone...an old blackjack has decided to randomly not work whenever it feels like. So...I talked Jon into solving both problems with an iphone.

I was up for an upgrade and we ordered a refurbished iphone from AT&T for MUCH less than a new one would cost. The only disappointing thing is that it has already shipped and is in route to be delivered today. But around here UPS doesn't come until 6:30 or 7 and I am heading to Houston around 6. Which means I probably won't get to play with my new phone until I get back in town Saturday night. Oh well.

Time to go pack! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lots of things

This week as been incredibly busy so I feel like I have been slacking a little bit with my blog posts...this is my attempt to catch up.

I started school on Tuesday...I am in an Advanced ABA class Tuesday nights and a Research class on Thursday nights. I think both are going to keep me busy for the semester. However this is the lightest load I have taken since starting back last year so hopefully it won't be so bad.

Yesterday I planned to meet up with my friend Jesse at Town Lake to walk our dogs. When we got there it was sooo cold we decided we would have to try again next weekend. Friday I was wearing a t-shirt and capris and yesterday I needed a coat and gloves...only in Texas does the weather change that fast!

Jon had to work yesterday morning so I was productive and got most of my studying done. When he got home he surprised me with this...

We have been talking about getting one for awhile but every time we get serious about it they seem to be out of sock everywhere! Jon stopped by Frys on his way home yesterday and they were finally in stock so he picked one up. It is sooo much fun. He wanted to get the Wii Fit also but they were out. Luckily I went to Target last night and guess what I found...Wii Fit is amazing! It analysed out weight and BMI then it helps you set goals for yourself. It tracks how many minutes you exercises and it has fun balance games. I love it! This is going to be the perfect addition to my weekly walks. :)

Ok I think I covered enough thing for one post. I need to go get my house ready for the baby shower that will be here at 3. I'll post pictures tonight.

A complete day off

I had the whole day off today with nothing on my to do list! It was great!! Jon had to leave town early this morning and doesn't come back until tonight so Hiro and I have just been laying around all day. I just now decided I should take a shower and change out of my pjs. I start school tomorrow so I know I will not have another day like this for a while.

I talked Jon into getting us cable again. We he got rid of it a few months ago because you can get pretty much anything free over the air or web. But when he goes out of town I enjoy watching my silly shows on TLC, Lifetime and HGTV. So the cable guy came out this morning. The first guy that came brought the wrong stuff but the second guy that came out got everything hooked up perfectly. It took me awhile to get all my season passes programed back into TIVO but I think I managed to remember everything.

Now I am editing some pictures from our vacation and trying to decide which ones I want to get printed off. Then I am sure I will go back to my cozy spot on the couch and watch some more TV until dinner time. :)

It's here!

The UPS man dropped off my birthday present! I am now the proud owner of a Cannon EOS Rebel XS! I have been taking pictures all around the house this evening. Tomorrow Jon and I are heading out to take some cool outdoor shots. I can't wait to come home and try out my photo editing program. I will try to post some pictures later this weekend. :)

this and that

I am finally getting around to posting some pictures from our kitchen. I love how the walls turned out. Now I just need to get some better frames for the art work...the college frames have seen better days.
While I was taking the pictures of the kitchen this is what Hiro was doing. Yes that would be our couch and the new pillows I recently bought. He totally thinks that is his new bed and unfortunately the pillows have become new frustration toys when we leave him home along at night. We are horrible parents, we think it is cute when he slinks up on the couch and curls up. His favorite is when he gets the spot right between us. Luckily our couches are black and microfiber...otherwise I would never get all the mud off of them.

Jon ordered my Dell Mini 9 this week!! I can't wait to get it...too bad they just released them and it won't even ship until October 14th. I am looking forward to taking it to class...although apparently I will not be able to use it in every class. Last night was my first Monday night class. It is ABA for teachers...a.k.a behavior management for classrooms. About half the class was taking notes on laptops when my professor said "ok class is starting, I would like all of you to close your laptops". Of course people informed her that their laptops were their primary method of taking notes. She told them that she prefers people to use a pen and paper to take notes. Some people in my class got pretty confrontational...it was awkward. In the end she won and we can't use laptops in her class :( Oh well at least I have 2 others that I can use my new mini in.

Quick post

this week has flown by! i can't believe it is already friday...not that i am complaining!

unfortunately jon had to go to kansas today :( dell is sending him all the way there when he could totally do the job remotely from our house. oh well, i am sure it has something to do with keeping the customers happy. jon is so good at his job, he has to go into situations where the customers (big companies not just individuals) are not exactly pleased with dell. sometimes their machines have broken or need updates that require down time. anyway, jon goes in and he always manages to get the job done as well as change the attitude of the customer. he even has customers that request him to come out again the next time they need help. it also doesn't hurt to have my very own personal tech guy around the house :) although occasionally it back fires...he is always playing around with our home system and making changes. i come home and my computer doesn't work or won't print, etc...

today when i came home i had an email from jon telling me to check out a website. the link took me to a website for the dell mini 9 (the new dell netbook). look how small it is! i have been talking about how my lap top is too heavy to carry to school and how someday i want something smaller. this is perfect! it is tiny and light, and is perfect for being on the go. it doesn't have huge storage and it doesn't have a cd or dvd drive, but other than that it is a regular laptop. i think we are going to get one! it will be so easy for me to take to school (since all my professors post their powerpoints online). it would also be great to take on vacations! jon said he was going to look more at it tonight...i'm keeping my fingers crossed that that means he is going to buy it tonight....right perfect husband of mine?!?! :)

okay so here is my productive weekend plan...
friday:
later this afternoon i have to go to a meeting...i am really excited because it is for the little girl i go to school with and her teacher is coming too! i think it is great that she is willing to take a couple hours after a long work day and come meet with us, because she truly wants to make the classroom environment the most productive for this little girl...very cool! after the meeting i think i am going to take hiro out to auditorium shores to get some energy out...he loves to play with the other dogs and swim. once that is done i am planning on coming home to finish my research. i need to read and review 2 more articles and i want to finish it up before jon gets home tomorrow.

saturday: i am going to wake up early and go shopping! i need to buy some new clothes for work and i want to pick up some fun accessories. jon gets home around 1 so i need to be done by then so we can spend the afternoon together. i will have to think of something fun for us to do tomorrow night.

sunday: jon has his first soccer game of the fall season. he joined a new team over the summer and is going to continue to play with them this fall. i really like this new team, the guys are all very nice and so are the wives/girlfriends (which makes it even more fun to go watch). unfortunately i am not going to be able to make the first game :( i have to meet with my class partner to compile our literature review paper that is due on wed...um we just started class last week and we already have papers due...yuck!

well i think that is all i have planned right now...keep your fingers crossed about the netbook...i NEED/want one!!!
