Moving right along.

I had my 37 week appointment today and my doctor asked if I wanted her to check me. I told her I didn’t really have a preference (I was convinced that Aedan was going to be late and I would go past my due date so I wasn’t sure there was a need for her to check me). My doctor decided to check anyway and I think she and I were both pretty surprised when she found out I am 80% effaced and 3 cm dilated! My Dr said I shouldn’t worry about going past my due date. :)

Snow Day

I can’t believe it is actually snowing here. It never snows here. It’s been snowing off and on all day, so fun! The temperature is hovering just above freezing so there is not too much accumulation but off course everything around here shuts down (I know its a little silly, but we aren’t used to this type of weather). Most of the schools in the area are releasing early and afternoon activities have been cancelled. This means my afternoon session (remember the 2 hours this week I actually was going to work?) has been cancelled.

It’s kind of nice because I really didn’t feel like getting out in the cold, wet weather. But at the same time its a little sad since today was going to be my last therapy session ever. I have been working with this client for 4 years so its a little bitter sweet. I am hoping I will get fill in for one of her other therapists next week and have my last session then.

Now I guess the only thing to do is get comfortable on the couch and watch some movies. :)

Cooking Takeover

Work has been slowing down for me since the beginning of February. I came off of one of my cases near the first of this month just because it was too hard for me and the sessions were just not as productive as they needed to be. For the first 3 weeks of February I was interviewing and doing training for some new therapists to take over that particular case, as well as some other cases we had with openings. Now the interviews are done (thank goodness, I have learned that I don’t so much like interviewing), the training is complete and overlaps with the new therapists are wrapping up. We were lucky to find 3 great new therapists that are going to fit it really well. So this week I don’t really have much work to do. When I say I don’t have much to do, I mean I only have to work for 2 hours this week. Um, does that even count as working? No, I don’t think so either

Since I am going to have a lot of time on my hands, I decided to take charge of the cooking around here for the week. I’m pretty sure I have mentioned this, but Jon does most all of the cooking at our house. He even makes me lunch on the days we’re both home. I know, I’m pretty lucky.

So this week (and probably for the next few weeks before Aedan comes) I am going to take over the cooking for him. I made a plan for the week and a grocery list and did the shopping last night.

Here is the plan for dinners this week:

  • Monday: sausage wraps, coleslaw, and beans
  • Tuesday: taco soup and corn bread (its supposed to be cold and raining so I thought soup would be perfect)
  • Wednesday: BBQ chicken sandwiches and leftover coleslaw and beans
  • Thursday: left over soup with tortilla chips and homemade guacamole
  • Friday: veggie lasagna - homemade from the Stouffers box :) with garlic bread
  • Saturday: dinner at my grandparents
  • Sunday: pizza and salad

Lunches for the week will alternate between leftovers, turkey and cheese melts and chicken cobb salad.

Clearly nothing too special, but at least I have a plan. Let the week of cooking begin.

Weekend Recap

Friday night Jon and I went to see Shutter Island with a good friend.

We went to the 10:30pm show and I can’t believe I was able to stay up that late! The movie was pretty good and my chocolate peanut butter milkshake was perfect! :)

Saturday Jon and I got up early and picked up breakfast at Austin Java and then headed to a farmers market in south Austin. I read some good reviews about the market, but we were kind of disappointed once we got there. Since we were up late Friday night and got up early Saturday morning we spend the afternoon napping and watching movies.

Jon had to work most of the night last night so he slept this morning and I cleaned the house. I had my BCBA study group over this afternoon and got to show off Aedan’s room (which reminds me, I need to take some pictures and put them up here).

Overall it was a good weekend. Next weekend we have family coming in town and I can’t wait!

Weekly Appointments

Well my weekly doctor appointments have begun. I can’t believe I am almost 36 weeks along! I had an appointment this morning and everything is looking good. Blood pressure is great, weight is good (according to my doctor, I think I have gained too much, but oh well), and she thinks Aedan is positioned head down.

I have been walking a lot more and going to yoga, which I think is helping with my sore back. Although yesterday I spend the entire day on the floor doing some training with new therapists and my back was killing me when I got home. After this week work is going to slow down so that should help.

On another note, I found a new author that I love! I recently finished Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. It was a great book, and I would highly recommend it. I went to the library this week and checked out a couple more of her books. I am reading Mystic Lake right now and I like that one too. I love finding new authors that I like. Anyone else read any good books lately?

Now I am off to run some errands to pick up things for my hospital bag, that I will need to pack in a few weeks, and order a cookie cake for Jon’s birthday tomorrow!! :)

Happy Valentine’s Day

Jon and I don’t really do much for Valentine’s Day besides spend the day together. Today we slept in (we are well aware that our days of sleeping in together are numbered), made a big breakfast and then took Hiro out to Town Lake. We finally had some nice weather on a weekend here in Austin, so we took advantage of it yesterday and today by walking around Town Lake and letting Hiro play at Auditorium Shores.

We picked up our favorite smoothies from Smoothie King, came home for lunch. We started watching this movie but we both got tired and ended up taking a nice long nap (we are also aware that long naps are probably numbered as well).

Now we are making some dinner and watching the Olympics. I am also looking forward to this show tonight!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

35 Weeks

I really think I am getting bigger by the hour! I feel huge most of the time and I still have 5 weeks to go!

Here are a few pictures I took while playing around with my new tripod and the timer setting on my camera. They aren’t very sharp, but I like them anyway.

Back Home

We are back from our last little road trip before Aedan arrives. We headed to Plano for the weekend for a baby shower.

A couple of my close friends and a couple of my mom’s close friends threw me a beautiful shower. It was a blast and we got tons of stuff (so much that it all didn’t make it back to Austin). Luckily my parents are coming down in a few weeks so they are going to bring the things that won’t fit in our car. I have some great pictures from the shower (thanks Alison), but I forgot to transfer them off my mom’s camera to my computer so I will have to add pictures later.

Right now Aedan’s room looks like baby stuff exploded everywhere. My goal is to get things washed and put away this week. I have a few appointments with some pedestrians this week, hopefully I will be able to make a decision by the end of the week.  We are getting close, only 40 more days!

So excited about…

This premiere tonight:

images

I started watching way back when the first season came out and I think I watched on a regular basis until halfway through season 3. Then I got bored and stopped for awhile.

Then last year Jon and I started from the beginning and got caught up just in time to watch season 5 as it came on. Now we are both hooked and can’t wait to watch season 6!
