Random Stories

Whenever I talk to my mom, I am always telling her little stories of funny things the kids have done. I don’t always have pictures of these things so I tend to not post about them. My mom reminded me that I will want these things written down someday to use as blackmail to bring back memories.

First up, Aedan. Oh gosh, where do I even begin? I just feel like he is destined for drama in the future. He loves to pretend play and is usually strutting around the house dressed up as a fireman…boots, jacket, hat, camelback as an air tank, Hawaiian lei as a walkie-talkie, and of course just underwear because shorts are over-rated. Or, he is dressed up as some kind of solider. Usually a storm trooper of some type. Generally the same getup without the fireman jacket.

He is always running into the room telling me I need to get out because there is a fire in the room or he is asking me to be the princess and he will protect me from the robots. Such a fun age!

Then of course there is Adelaide. Oh Adelaide. Such a little fire cracker. At school she is allowed to carry her blanket around except at lunch and snack. The first week she threw some major fits about that. The second week, they told me she would scream all the way from her classroom to the lunch room, put her blanket in a chair on her own (while screaming) and then go to her seat, and eat lunch or snack with no problems. This is the third week, and I think she has gotten over the power struggler because she finally stopped screaming on the way to the lunch room.

She is also all about doing things on her own. I don’t know if it is because she is the little sister or just her personality, but if Aedan can do it, she is determined to give it her best shot. She loves to get herself dressed, which must be a personality thing or a girl thing, because Aedan would still love for me to dress him while he tells me some story. She loves to find Aedan’s underwear or her shorts and try to put them on. The only problem is, she typically gets both legs through one hole. She pulls them up and then tries to walk around. She can only take itty bitty steps since both legs on in one hole, but she is so proud of herself!

The other morning, I heard some water running in the bathroom. I thought it was Aedan washing his hands or something, but then I saw him siting on the couch. When I went to see what Adelaide was doing…this is what I found. She was pretty happy with herself!

I am so blessed to have such happy, healthy kids. I am so thankful that I get to spend so much time with them and watch these crazy little things happen as they grow up!

Our First House Together

*I wrote this post last week and then forgot to schedule it to publish, oops! We closed last Friday!*

When we moved into our current house, 2.5 years ago, we decided to put our previous house up for rent. We looked into selling it, but the market was not so great and we were able to rent it out for a small profit each month so that made more sense.

Fast forward a couple of years, the market has gotten a lot better and while we have had pretty decent luck with our renters, we decided now was a good time to simplify things and sell it.

The house when up on MLS on a Wednesday and not even 24 hours later, we had 5 offers, all for over our asking price! We were able to pick a good solid offer and we are all set to close soon.

Since it was the house we came home from our honeymoon to, the one we brought Hiro home to and the house Aedan came home for the first time to, I thought I would share some pictures one last time.

There is the pergola that Jon built…

I know I have pictures of the bedrooms somewhere on my blog, but I can’t seem to find them! Here are a few of my favorite posts from our first house though…

Weekend Recap

We had a really nice weekend!

Friday night we were supposed to go eat at an outdoor restaurant and listen to some live music, but it ended up raining. We ended up at one of our favorite places with some good friends. Adelaide was so excited to be able to sit with the big boys!

Saturday morning, Jon took the kids to the pool and I went paddle boarding with a few of my friends. I had never been before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was thought it was going to be much more difficult than it was. It was so much fun! None of us fell in and we all ad such a great time!

Saturday afternoon and evening we just hung around the house. I made breakfast food for dinner and Aedan said it was the best dinner I had ever made. Uh, thanks. If only we could have pancakes and syrup every night…

Sunday morning, Jon had soccer and my parents were in town so I took the kids up to spend the morning with them. They had a ton of fun as usual.

We had a nice visit and came home in time for naps. We had another low key afternoon/evening which was nice.

First Day of School

Tuesday was the first day of school for both kids!

20140902_081122

They both did great and have awesome teachers. I am so excited for the year to come!

This is Aedan’s last year of preschool before heading to kindergarten next year. At drop of, he has to put all his stuff away and go into the classroom on his own. He did really well! A far cry from the little guy who cried and clung to me every.single.drop off for the first semester of his first year!

Adelaide didn’t cry at all when we left (of course, we walked away while she was busy playing so I think that helped). Her teacher said she threw a fit because they didn’t want her to have her blanket at lunch time and she also got mad when they wouldn’t let her take her back pack with her every time they left the classroom. I believe her teacher used the words “very strong willed”. Ha! I’m sure she will get better once she gets the hang of the routines!

After drop off, I had breakfast with some friends, did the grocery shopping solo, and then Jon and I had a lunch date. Not to bad for the first day!
