11 Months!

Today Adelaide is 11 months old today! Which means in one more month she will be ONE!!

IMG_7593

Adelaide, here is what you have been up to these days…

  • I think you weigh around 19 lbs.
  • You wear size 3 diapers and mostly size 9 month or 12 month clothes.
  • You wake up around 7:30 am, take a nap around 9:30 and around 1:30 and then go to bed at 7:30 pm.
  • You take 5 bottles a day and I just feed you whatever we are eating for meals. You will occasionally eat those baby food pouches, but really you are just not a fan of pureed food. You love cheerios, strawberries, pineapple, and chips.
  • You are pretty happy most of the time and your stranger anxiety seems to have gotten better. You are fine if you can’t see us.
  • You love to climb on anything and everything. You love to climb on Aedan’s chair, on the couch pillows, the stairs and the list goes on and on.
  • You learned how to clap this month and sometimes you will wave, but not very often.
  • You babble all the time.
  • You like to push your walker (or anything else you can find to push) all over the house.
  • You love for your daddy to hold you. Whenever you see him, you crawl over and throw your hands in the air.
  • You do pretty well in the car, but you do better when Aedan is sitting next to you entertaining you.
  • You started dancing when you hear a song you like (mostly it is just you bouncing up and down, too cute!).

Adelaide, you are such a fun baby! You are so easy going and happy. We love you so much! – Mommy

Phone Pictures

Time to load up a few pictures from my phone…

I went inside to grab something and when I came back out, this is what I found…

20130911_190600

Such a good big brother (sometimes)

20130911_190636

Aedan’s class made pet rocks the week Jon was in Scotland. Aedan names his daddy…he missed Jon a lot that week. Looks just like him, right? :)

20130919_203413

On an afternoon grocery trip, we scored a car cart. I will only push the ones that are the size of a normal cart, with the two level basket. I absolutely refuse to push those extra long ones! I have tried it once and I ran into everything! Such a pain. Anyway, we scored a good one, so instead of Adelaide riding and Aedan walking, they both got to drive.

20130921_170250

Obviously they both had fun and it made for a super easy trip for me. Dear HEB, please make more of these carts instead of the extra long ones! Thanks!

The weather cooled down last weekend after a Friday full of rain. We had the windows and doors open all day! Adelaide will climb over everything, but she hasn’t ventured out the door yet. I know it will be coming soon (reminds me of Aedan crawling through the doggie door), but for now she is happy to sit and watch Aedan play outside.

Happy Friday!!

In to Everything

Adelaide will be 11 months next week…so crazy!

She is such a mess. Ever since she started moving, she is just such a mess. I feel like once Aedan started moving, he was just gone. He was fast and everywhere, but not so much as crazy as she is. She loves to climb. She likes to climb all over me, all over pillows, all over toys. I even caught her trying to climb up on her little push walker. Such a mess.

Lately one of her favorite things is the dishwasher.

She like to climb in it…

20130920_07585020130920_075901

And take everything out of it…

20130921_125353

When she is not doing one of those two things, she is generally holding onto the dishwasher rack and “talking” all about how she feels. When I try to make her move so I can shut the dishwasher, I always end up having to pry her little fingers off…she is obsessed with that thing!

Luckily she is not tall enough to push the buttons…otherwise I know we would be in trouble!!

Scotland

Last week, Jon was here…

20130920_124153

More specifically…Edinburgh, Scotland. Well, the training he was leading was in a town about an hour away, but he got to spend an afternoon walking around Edinburgh.

He said it was mostly cold and rainy, but pretty fun. He got back Saturday evening and everyone was happy to see him! Five international trips down, one more to go for the year!

Saggy Pants

Yesterday, Aedan was telling me about his day at school and he told me he needed a belt. I laughed and asked him who told him he needed a belt. He said Ms Tandi (the director) told him.

I don’t see why…

20130917_191218

Haha! I promise his shorts fit him much better before I took him to school. I guess they stretched out a little too much while he played.

Don’t worry, I fixed them. Hopefully no more baggy pants for this guy…

Little Sister Problems

Last week, I was cleaning up the playroom before nap time, when Aedan came running in crying…he said Adelaide pulled his car away and made him get out.

He can be really dramatic, especially when he is tired. So we went to investigate how exactly his 10 month old sister made him get out of his car. This is what we found. Ha! Guilty.

20130906_124639

She was so proud of herself. Her smile just kills me. I told Aedan, I know how he feels. I remember having a little sister wanting everything I was playing with too. :)

3.5 Years

Today Aedan turns 3.5. So so crazy! I feel like he was my little guy such a short time ago…

And now…

Aedan, here is what you are up to these days…

  • You weigh about 35lbs and I am not sure how tall you are, but you have definitely gotten taller this past summer!
  • You go to bed around 8/8:15pm and you wake up around 7am (although I can usually get you to lay in bed quietly until 7:30am). You still take a solid afternoon nap. Sometimes it’s 3 hours, but most of the time it is 2.5 hours. You have maybe skipped your nap once in the last year.
  • You go through eating phases. Sometimes you eat pretty well and other times you eat nothing.
  • Your favorite food is probably fruit snacks, oatmeal, and trail mix
  • You tell us, all the time that you love us, and that Hiro is your best friend
  • You are so imaginative. Last week for a couple of days you were Handy Manny and then after that, you had some imaginary robots hanging out with you. We even had to put them to bed in the office at bedtime.
  • Probably your favorite thing to do is to just stay home and play. You always have fun when we go out, but a lot of the time, you tell me you just want to stay home (we are alike in the area).
  • You are very helpful and follow directions well (when you want to!). I feel like we have turned a corner this past month. Right at 3, you were pretty challenging and while you still have your moments, you are overall pretty easy.
  • You are really good with Adelaide, although you aren’t so happy when she tries to take whatever you are playing with (which at the moment is her one goal in life). You like to help me go wake her up in the morning and from her naps and help make her bottles. You bring her toys all the time and sing to her in the car when she is fussy.
  • You get really annoyed when Adelaide tried to talk to you most of the time. All she really says is “da” or “gah” and you keep reminding her that your name is Aedan, not “da”. :)
  • You like to “read” us book now when we put you to bed. You version of The Hungry Caterpillar is pretty cute!
  • You are very into fire trucks but you still love love love to fix things with tools.
  • You think your daddy can do anything. Whenever we can’t find a toy or get something to work you tell me not worry, daddy will do it when he is done with work.
  • You are pretty good at running errands and will just walk with us next to the cart.
  • You can get in and out of the car by yourself now. All I have to do is buckle you up.
  • You love to swing and play in the backyard with Hiro.

_MG_7545

Aedan, I could go on and on about the things I love about you. You are such a special little boy. You are so smart and kind. We love you so so much! Love, mommy.

New E-Reader

I have always been a big reader before I go to sleep each night. Growing up, I don’t remember not reading before bed. Before we had Aedan, Jon and I used to read every night before going to sleep.

Then we had a newborn and reading took a back seat. You know, when it takes you so long to put the baby to sleep and you know he will be up just a few hours later, you just want to get some sleep yourself. :)

Once Aedan got older (and better at sleeping!), I got a nook color when they first came out. I loved it! It was perfect for reading and blog surfing.

Then I upgraded to an iPad which was great for work, emailing, blog reading, etc. but not so great for reading. Yes I had the nook and kindle app and I used them occasionally. But the iPad is just too big and heavy to really be comfortable reading in bed.

Then we had Adelaide and reading took a back seat again. Sigh, those babies. :)

Well, I decided if I wanted to get back into my reading habit, I should get a reader that made it easier to read in bed and took away the ability for me to get distracted with emails and blogs.

So, last week, I bought myself a nook simple

So far, I really like it. It is small and easy to hold in bed. It has a glow light, so I can read even if Jon is asleep. And it is just an e-reader. So when I pick it up, all I am doing is reading. Not getting distracted with other things.

I am reading Gone Girl right now, which has been on my reading list for awhile. Have any good recommendations for books to read next?

Phone Pictures

Some of these are repeats from Facebook and Instagram (laurenelissa). But I like having them up here as well so they can be part of our family scrapbook.

All this one wants to do is climb all over me 100% of the time…

A random afternoon in the playroom…love that Aedan has his safety goggles on!

20130815_123240

We don’t go up in the bonus room too often (although I love that we have it!). Sometimes it is nice to change it up and play in a new place for awhile…

Adelaide has pretty much lived in onesies all summer before it is always so hot. Now that she is standing up more, I figured it was about time she wore some big girl clothes. Obviously she is super excited about it!

Another upstairs playtime. Aedan was pretending the keyboard could control my iPad. Adelaide thought she needed to help out.

Another Talker

From the get-go Aedan has been a talker. He was “talking” long before anyone understood him. He sometimes acts shy in new environments or around bigger groups, but at home…he.never.stops.talking.

We thought maybe baby #2 wouldn’t be quite such a talker. We are starting to think we were wrong…

It’s official, neither Jon or I will be able to have a complete conversation between the hours of 7:30am and 7:30pm.

First Day of School

Yesterday was Aedan’s first day of preschool. He is in the 3rd year old class this year and going three mornings a week.

I remember his first day of school last year, he seemed like such a toddler. Now he is definitely a preschooler!

He was super excited about going. I got him a new lunch box that matches his backpack and he thought it was so cool.

Here is his first day picture from last year…

IMG_0773

He was pretty good until Jon told him we were going home. He got a little clingy, but didn’t cry (which is pretty big, since last year, he cried every.single.morning until Christmas break…seriously).

Here’s to a great year!!

Daddy is Home

Jon has been in Brazil for the past 8 days. As I am writing this, he is on a plane making his way home…finally! By the time you read this, he will already have been home for a couple days.

This trip was his 4th international trip this year, and 6th week+ long trip. Unfortunately he has at least 2 more international trips and one more regular trip scheduled. All before Adelaide's first birthday. Excessive…I think so! :)

He went to Brazil for the first time in March. In fact he left after Aedan’s 3rd birthday party. I thought I would make a little list of why this trip was better than the last one…

  1. Adelaide sleeps through the night now. I am a firm believer that any and every situation looks better when you get a full night of sleep!
  2. Adelaide can hold her own bottle. Oh my goodness, this saves me so much time. She can drink her bottle while I get breakfast made or while I am helping Aedan get ready so we can head out  the door.
  3. Having girlfriends that will bring their kids over for an evening play date/dinner so you can talk about more than just Handy Manny at dinner.
  4. Having said girlfriends come back over after bedtime to share some wine and snacks!
  5. Becoming a pro at managing bedtime solo with two little ones…and looking back and realizing that those 3 day business trips, when I was left with just Aedan at home, were not nearly as hard and I thought they were. :)

We are so excited for daddy to be home!! And I am so blessed to have made some wonderful friends out here!
