Kymberly–Texas

I have been following Kelly’s blog for the past 7 years. It is crazy to think that I have been blogging for 9 years now! Anyway, Kelly has hosted a singles day on her blog for the past 5 years and I finally convinced my sister to let me link up!

My sister, Kymberly (Kym) is 28 and lives in Houston TX, although I keep trying to convince her to move to Austin!

Here is a little about her and why I think she is great!

- She is a 28-year-old who lives in Houston, Texas- originally from Dallas, Texas.

- She is passionate about her work as a speech therapist with children with disabilities.

- Family is extremely important and I am lucky to call my little sis my best friend!

- She is the best aunt and my kids adore her!

- She loves trying new things or discovering new places to have fun.

- She values her family and friendships.

- She has a big heart and is always willing to go out of her way to help someone in need.

- She is spunky and full of life...there's never a dull moment with her around!

- She believes laughing and smiling are the best ways to go about your day.

Sleeping In & The Flu

We have hit a sweet spot in terms of the kids ages. At almost 6 and 3, they play really well together (most of the time), they are easy to take places, and can do a lot on their own.

During Christmas break, Jon and I got really spoiled. The kids would wake up and either start playing or watch TV. All without coming to wake us up. We probably stayed in bed until 9 am just about every morning.

Usually by 9 Adelaide will come ask for some milk or help opening a breakfast bar (our cue to get up and get breakfast going). Sometimes Aedan will come in like this…just a day in the life of a 5-year-old boy. Ha!

I think sleeping in on the weekends and breaks, makes our early school mornings a little more bearable!

My mom got me an adult coloring book for Christmas. It is a lot of fun and very relaxing.

In other news, Jon tested positive for the flu last weekend. He was so so sick all weekend/beginning of the week. On Tuesday he started to get worse instead of better. He went back in and a chest x-ray confirmed pneumonia. He is feeling much much better now, thank goodness!

It was a long week for both of us! Single parenting is not for the weak. We were ready for the 3-day weekend and had a great one!

Bikes, Taekwondo & Blog Design

We borrowed a bike from a friend, so Aedan could start getting used to riding a regular bike instead of his balance bike (which he has loved for the past 2.5 years!). We are planning to get him a new bike for his birthday, but we wanted him to be excited about riding. Until then, he can build up his confidence on this one.

After about 15 minutes of figuring out the peddles, he was off! No training wheels needed.

Last night, Aedan also had his first Taekwondo class. He had a lot of fun!

With the new year, I decided it was time for a new look for the blog…what do you think? I really like the simplicity of it.

Adelaide

I'm not sure where to begin.

This one keeps us on our toes. I was better about blogging when Aedan was this age and he probably has funny stories all about him in the archives.  I need to get better about sharing Adelaide’s stories...

This is how she went to dinner one night. Not pictures are the cowboy boots and gloves that she had to take off to eat. We ate outside on a patio and she kept asking me why it was so dark. Ha!

She is always packing up a little bag or backpack ("paback") whenever we go anywhere. I mean anywhere. She brings so much stuff in the car. Luckily she usually forgets about most of it on the drive and doesn't insist on bringing it all in with her!

We told her to get her shoes on to go run some errands, and this is how she come out...she has a knight helmet, superhero mask, camel-back backpack full of random items, a shield, bandanna, and there is a balloon in her hand too.

Sometimes her bags are full of all the socks she owns, or 4 pair of extra shoes. Sometimes pjs or hair bands and bows. It is funny, because whatever it is, it is usually a bunch of the same item. You never know when you will need 10 pair of socks.

Here is one from the greenbelt with Jon and Aedan. She was mad because Hiro kept shaking water all over her.

Not ammused to be photo-bombed by her big brother!

Last week, she threw the biggest fit because I would not take her into the mens room at a jumpy house. It was the kind of fit where everyone is looking at her wondering if she is hurt. My friend said I needed one of the signs that said “I’m not hurt, my mom just won’t let me go to the mens room”. We had to pack up our stuff and leave, which didn’t happen before 2-3 of her attempts to sprint towards the mens room. She screamed the whole way home and then when she finally calmed down, I told her (for the millionth time) that only daddy can take her to the mens room. For the next two days she kept asking when daddy would take her to the jumpy house so she could go in the boys bathroom. Seriously.

Hello 2016!

I can't believe the new year is here! This holiday season flew by and apparently my blogging went out the window. Hopefully I can get back on track.

We had a great Christmas/New Year break. Lost of visits with family and friends as well as lots of relaxing family time at home just the 4 of us (and Hiro).

I didn't take too many pictures, but here is what I do have...

Adelaide's preschool Christmas performance.

Aedan's school Christmas party.

Jon and Aedan got to go see Star Wars the night before it opened. He loved it and has since seen it again.

It was really warm the week of Christmas. Jon took the kids to the Greenbelt for a hike.

We also celebrated my grandmother's 90th birthday!

We were able to have Christmas celebrations with both side of our extended families. Lots of good food and conversation.

Santa came and everyone was super happy!

This past week the weather has been much colder and we have had a lot of down time which has been really nice. We had some friends and neighbors over to bring in the new year with some backyard fireworks.

2016 is off to a good start and I can't wait to see what the year brings!
