Some Outtakes

Thanks for all the kind comments about our Big News! Things have been pretty busy around here and I feel like I have been a little MIA lately. Hopefully I can get back into a blogging routine.

Jon was in Amsterdam for work from the 22-29th. He got back Thursday afternoon and we are so glad to have him home. I lucked out because my mother-in-law ended up being in town to visit Jon’s grandparents and she stayed a few extra days with me to help out while Jon was gone. It was wonderful to have her help since I don’t feel that great right now…come on second trimester!

We went to a good friends wedding today and it was beautiful. Since it was during the day, we decided to take Aedan. He did really well and had a lot of fun, but he missed his nap so he was super cranky this evening. We put him to bed early, ordered take out from Trudy’s and are looking forward to a quiet relaxing evening.

Oh, I got a lot of comments on how cute Aedan looked in the pictures with the sonogram…I thought I would share a few of the outtakes because it was definitely a lot of work to get a couple of good shots!

Five Things Friday

Yay for the weekend!

1. The weather is beautiful here so I am hoping to spend a lot of the weekend outside!

2. I don’t think I ever blogged about this, but a couple of weeks ago we went to dinner at Logan’s Roadhouse (horrible service and so so food). Anyway, it is one of those places where you can get a bucket of peanuts and drop the shells on the floor. Aedan hated it! He kept telling us all about the dirt on the floor and asking for a broom. He even asked out waiter for a broom when he came to take our order. Haha! I guess maybe I clean a little too much around here.

3. Aedan got a shopping cart for his birthday and he fills it with random toys or items and pushes it around the house daily. Jon calls it his homeless cart and honestly that is exactly what it looks like. This is what it looked like yesterday…

_MG_6457

Yes, that is my hair dryer along with various tools and of course Babar along for the ride.

_MG_6459

And this one, this is the one that really looks like a homeless cart. This is tools, a gold club, a Thor hammer and popper.

4. So I am thinking about picking up a pair of colored jeans for spring. I see them everywhere and always thing the girls wearing them look so cute, but I am a little nervous about pulling them off. My sister bought a pair and they just look so fun so we shall see.

5. And just because I love to see them play together…

Birthday Weekend

Last week totally got away from me! We had lots of family in town and I kept meaning to blog every night about Aedan’s birthday party, but for one reason or another I never got around to it.

So a week late, here is the recap of Aedan’s birthday weekend.

Thursday, Aedan seemed to be coming down with a cold and since we had a big weekend planned, I cancelled my Friday meeting and we just stayed around the house to rest. I am so glad we did because it started raining Thursday night and pretty much did not stop until Sunday morning. It was crazy. It definitely made for a good stay at home day. Luckily by Sunday (the day of his party), Aedan was back to normal.

Saturday, after breakfast we all headed to the grocery store to get everything for the party. Then Jon and I spend the morning doing food prep to make everything go faster on Sunday. We all had a long afternoon nap and then we headed out to do some shopping. I was planning to buy Aedan’s birthday presents on Friday while he was at the sitter’s house, but since he didn’t go, that was out. I decided it would be fun for us to just take him to Toy R Us and see what he would pick out. With some help, he decided on a slide and a giant tool set complete with a drill and changeable drill bits. He LOVES both.

After Toys R Us, we stopped by the mall to pick up some new dress shirts for Jon. He is headed back to Amsterdam in a couple of weeks to lead some more trainings. Then we finished up with dinner at Panera Bread. I am in love with their Sonoma Chicken Stew, but they were out so I settled for my next favorite, their mac and cheese. :)

We got home, just as my sister and her friend Jordan were getting into town. Aedan was so excited to see his “Emmie”. She and Jordan came for a visit and to help with the party and they were great to have around!

Sunday we all spend the morning getting everything set for the party. Everyone came over around 4:30 and Aedan had fun showing off his new toys. The party went really well, other than the fact that Aedan wasn’t too interested in opening his gifts. He would open one and then just want to play with that instead of moving to the next gift. Oh well. :)

I didn’t take too many pictures, but here are a couple…

We had a great time, and I still cannot believe he is two already!

My sister and Jordan stayed with us until Tuesday and my parents stayed with us Wednesday, so Aedan was totally spoiled with attention for most of the week!

Two Years Old

Today is Aedan’s second birthday!! We had his birthday party on Sunday and we all had so much fun! I will do a full party post later this week. For now, I thought I would share this little survey.  I have seen this on a few other blogs and I thought it would be fun to fill out for Aedan. Hopefully I can keep it up and fill it out each year as he gets older.

_MG_6421

1. What is your favorite color? I’m not too sure, but I think maybe red. He tends to grab red items when given the choice.

2. What is your favorite toy? For sure his hammer and vacuum. *edit: I wrote this last week, and since his party he is now all about his new drill, shopping cart (for carrying his tools of course) and his new shovel and rake. *

3. What is your favorite fruit? strawberries, he would probably eat them 24/7 if I let him.

4. What is your favorite TV show? Bob the Builder, Diego, or Elmo (aka Sesame Street)

5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Quesadilla, or cheese and crackers and yogurt

6. What is your favorite outfit? I don’t think he has a favorite outfit, but he loves to be able to run around the house in just a t-shirt and diaper.

7. What is your favorite game? Any kind of wrestling/tickling game with Daddy.

8. What is your favorite snack? Z-bars

9. What is your favorite animal? BaBar the elephant. He found it at my parents house because it used to be mine, and he has slept with it ever since.

10. What is your favorite song? That’s a tough one, but probably Head Shoulders Knees and Toes or the Hot Dog song.

11. What is your favorite book? Richard Scary’s Busy Town Best First Book. He loves looking at all the different pages, especially when he finds a hammer, vacuum or lawnmower in the picture.

12. Who is your best friend? Probably Daddy or Hiro. Although he loves this little baby at his sitter’s house names Ava.

13. What is your favorite cereal? Cheerios

14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Kick a soccer ball, move around rocks, and “fix” the fence with his tools.

15. What is your favorite drink? For sure milk, but lemonade would be a close second.

16. What is your favorite holiday? I’m not sure, but he did have a blast at Christmas.

17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Babar usually lives in his crib, so that and his “num num” (blanket).

18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Eggs and waffles just like his Daddy.

19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? He would be in heaven if I just gave him French fries.

20. What do you want to be when you grow up? Not sure, but he loves cleaning and fixing things so something along those lines would be my guess if he answered this today.

Happy Birthday sweet boy! We can not believe you are two years old! We love you so so so much!!

Is it Friday Yet??

This week has been creeping by so slow.

Part of it has to do with the fact that Jon is leading a training all week. He is out the door by 7am and usually not home until 6:30/7pm. Since he usually works from home, we are pretty used to seeing him all the time, so it basically feels like he is out of town for the second week in a row!

The other reason is that we have a big weekend coming up with Aedan's birthday party. We have lots of family coming into town and I can't wait to see everyone! The only problem is Aedan seems to have a cold now. Sigh. Hopefully some rest tomorrow and Saturday will be all he needs to feel better!

I have a long grocery list of things to pick up tomorrow and then lots of cooking/baking to do on Saturday. Luckily I should be able to get most everything done on Saturday so I don't have to worry about much the day of his party (Sunday). Plus my sister and her friend are staying with us and will be here to help out Sunday before everyone comes over which will be perfect!

Now I'm off to cuddle my almost two year old, while we watch Bob the Builder. :)

Five Things Friday

This is a little late…so I guess it could be Five things Saturday, but that doesn’t make sense. :)

  • Jon was out of town from early Sunday morning until yesterday evening. He got back just in time to go out to dinner at Trudy’s. Yum! We are so glad to have him home! Aedan immediately wanted him to wrestle. Apparently, I am good at taking care of him, but not so good at the rough housing.
  • Unfortunately Jon is leading some overnight jobs this weekend so he is going to have to be up all night tonight. I’m thinking that may limit our plans tomorrow. Then next week he is leading a training and will have to be up in Round Rock Monday-Friday. He is busy busy and we are going to miss having him around the house during that day for another week.
  • Today was Dr. Seuss’s birthday so there was a special story time at the library. It was crazy! There were even kids with green hair. Aedan and his friends paid attention to the story for about 2.5 seconds and then they all wanted to go play with the train set. I mean come on. Why sit and listen to the librarian who doesn’t even show the pictures and goes on and on about the history of Dr. Seuss, when you could be having fun with trains (especially when you are 2 (or almost 2). The librarian may or may not have been a little annoyed, but such is life.

  • The weather has been pretty warm lately (today it was 80) so Aedan and I have been spending a lot of time outside. I love love love that we have a variety of parks we can visit without having to worry about traffic. It is amazing!
  • The Kite Festival is this Sunday. I am hoping we make it out for a little while because I think Aedan would love it! Here is Jon and I the weekend we met at the Kite Festival 7 years ago!

Spring Break 2
