Our Entry Way

I shared some pictures of our entry way here. Basically it looked something like this…

I have been wanting to change it up for awhile. I wanted to move the table on the wall next to the stairs and add some sort of bench in the entry way.

I came across this on Pinterest and emailed it to Jon a few months ago. He liked it and said he would talk with his friend Aaron about building it.

That’s all we really said about it, until one afternoon Jon texted me a picture of him working on it. I thought he was just hanging out over at Aaron’s house, but apparently they had gotten started on building it.

Aaron finished it up for us and brought it over a couple of weeks ago.

Jon and I spent a couple of evenings staining and then Jon finished it up by adding some hooks. I love it! It fills up the space perfectly and provides some good storage for us.

We also moved the table over to the blank wall near the stairs and now that area is a little more finished.

Now I just need to not be so lazy and actually take some pictures with my nice camera. :)

Our Weekend

We had such a great weekend!

Friday night, once Jon was finished with work, we headed out for burgers and fries. We usually do a Costco trip on Fridays and then grab P Terry's on our way home (I know, try not to be too jealous of our glamorous Friday nights). Aedan loves fries so we tell him that since it is Friday, we gets fries for dinner, :)

We didn't need anything at Costco this week so we went to Mighty Fine and ate there instead of taking dinner home. Aedan had fun and Adelaide didn't even know we were there since she slept the whole time (she had a rough day and was super tired).

When we got home from dinner, my sister Kym and her friend Jordan had gotten to our house. They came down for the weekend to visit. Jon took over putting both kids down for the night and Kym, Jordan and I went over to Trudy's for drinks. We had such a fun time!

Saturday, Jon made a big breakfast and then I went to meet one of the girls I work with so her mom could take our head shots for my website. Then it was home to hang out with everyone. We all took a long afternoon nap and then headed to the park.

Aedan is obsessed with sitting in the car and pretending to drive. He will grab my keys, wallet and sunglasses and tell me he is going to Target to pick up diapers, chips and oatmeal. Haha! He was thrilled that Emmie let him play in her car.

Kym and Jordan volunteered to babysit for us Saturday night, so of course we took them up on it. We went to the Alamo and saw Zero Dark Thirty. It was really good and it is alway nice to spend time with Jon without kids.

Sunday we had a very lazy day around the house. I got some cleaning and laundry done and we all took long afternoon naps again (both Aedan and Adelaide slept for the same 3 hours!).

Jon and I also finished up our new entryway bench. I love it...I will do a whole post on it soon. We have a busy week this week, but I'm really going to try to get back into my 3 posts a week routine. I miss blogging and I know I will want to go back and read these posts someday. :)

Happy Birthday and Catching Up

Today is Jon’s birthday! I would tell him happy birthday on here, but he doesn’t read my blog. He tells me he doesn’t need to since he lives it. So true, but then he misses my wonderful writing. :) Anyway, he got a special card signed by all 4 of us…me, Aedan, Adelaide and Hiro.

This morning Aedan and I got up early (well, I should say I got up early, Aedan was already awake!) and headed into town to pick up donuts for breakfast. Aedan was super excited. He told me he wanted to eat all the donuts. Ha!

We all had breakfast together and then had to go back to our normal Monday routine. But my sister and her friend are coming down next weekend for a visit and have volunteered to babysit for the day on Saturday so we are planning to go out and celebrate then. Can’t wait!

Its been a while since I have posted, so here is what we have been up to these past few weeks…

  • The weekend before last, both my family and Jon’s family were in town. We got together with my parents and grandmothers for lunch on Saturday. Aedan had a blast, but Adelaide, not so much. She has reached the age were she can officially recognize people and she wasn’t too thrilled about being held by anyone other than mommy and daddy. She is also getting too old to fall asleep anywhere so she was a little grouchy. It may be awhile before we get to enjoy big get togethers outside of our house. It was still great to spend time with everyone.
  • On Sunday, we met Jon’s parents and extended family for brunch. They decided to meet at the Nutty Brown Café, which is super close to our house so it worked out nicely. Adelaide was a little better and fell asleep in her carseat just long enough for everyone to enjoy breakfast.
  • On Wednesday, Jon and I went out for Valentine’s Day (thanks for babysitting last minute Katelyn!). We had dinner at Jack Allen’s. It was so good and really nice to enjoy some time together alone without the Valentine’s day crowds.
  • While we were out, Adelaide decided not to take a bottle. Actually she had been slowly getting worse and worse about it all week. So that night, we decided enough was enough. We started bottle boot camp again that night when she woke up in the middle of the night…can someone tell my 16 week old it is time for her to sleep through the night?!?! She actually took the bottle just fine in the middle of the night and did pretty good the next day. Its been 5 days now, and we are officially on 100% bottles and 100% formula. I have to say, it is such a big stress relief! I had hoped to breastfeed her as long as I did Aedan (8 months), but we got Aedan to take bottles of breast milk and she just would not, so this is how it has to be.
  • On Saturday, I took Aedan to run some errands and left Adelaide at home with Jon (you know since I didn’t have to be there to feed her). I think it may have been the first time I had only taken Aedan out since Adelaide was born. It is so funny, how easy it is to shop with one kid, when you have two. We had fun wondering around Target for about an hour.
  • Sunday, we had some friends over for dinner and tried out a new pizza place near us. It was great to catch up with friends and the pizza was pretty good…a little pricy for the size, but good.
  • Now I am trying out a new coffee shop (lots of new places opening up near us!), getting some work done, catching up on blogging and planning Aedan’s birthday party…can’t believe he is going to be 3 in less than a month!!

Five Things Friday

  • I went jeans shopping yesterday…ugh. Shopping for jeans is no longer fun. I did find two pair that I like and I got my normal size (too bad it’s still a size bigger than I’d really like to be), but they just don’t look the same. I don’t own a scale but I am guessing I have about 10 lbs. of baby weight to lose still.

IMG_20130208_101002

  • In the spirit of losing weight, Adelaide and I went for a walk after I put Aedan down for his nap (Jon works at home, so don’t worry, I did not leave my 2.5 year home along). :) It is a beautiful day and we had a nice walk through the neighborhood. Now if I could just keep it up on a regular basis, maybe I could lose those last few pounds before swimsuit season. Because swimsuit shopping is much less fun than jeans shopping.
  • Over the past few months Aedan has really been impressing me with his language. He has always been a big talker and an early talker, but lately Jon and I have been commenting on how his conversations have changed. It’s becoming more like having a conversation with a little kid instead of a toddler. I guess since he will be 3 in about a month, he is on his way out of toddlerhood.
  • Speaking of Aedan…when I picked him up at school last week, one of the teachers said “see you later alligator”. Aedan looked at her like she was crazy and said “um no, no I’m not an alligator, I’m an Aedan”. Haha! The whole way home he kept asking why she called him an alligator. “Mommy, I’m not an alligator, right?” :)
  • So my great little sleeper Adelaide has not been doing so great. Sigh. She sleeps great during the day, I literally wake her from every single nap. And she goes to bed at night with zero problems. But she is waking up to eat at least twice every night, sometimes three times. Luckily she eats and goes straight back to sleep so it is not difficult, more just annoying. Aedan was taking horrible naps at this age, but sleeping 12 hours at night. Meh, I’m not sure what I prefer. I am hoping by the time she is 4 months she will be at least back down to one night time feeding. That I can handle. Now I am off to make my afternoon cup of coffee…got to get through the day somehow.

Happy Friday!

Life Lately…

I don’t really feel like I have had much to write about lately. That and things have just been pretty busy. :)

I have gotten back into the swing of work and I am working on starting up a new client and finding some new therapists so that has been keeping me pretty busy.

Jon and I also decided that we would try having someone come to our house to watch the kids instead of taking them to the sitter’s house every week. We have been so blessed to have the sitter we have been using since Aedan was about 3 months old. We love her! But, it is much harder to take two kids over and potentially mess up two nap schedules since my schedule varies week to week. Plus, Jon is going to be doing a decent amount of traveling during the next few months and it would be nice to have someone who could help me with our evening routine a couple of nights a week when he is gone. We found a girl through care.com and she started this week. So far it is going really well. We are going to have her come twice a week and even on the days I don’t have to see clients, I will still be able to use that time to get work done and/or run errands or whatever needs to be done.

So I tried to do a bottle boot camp with Adelaide yesterday. And I caved. When we did it with Aedan, it was because he would not take bottles at all. With him, I was able to pump a ton of milk so we did our bottle boot camp and never looked back. Adelaide will take a bottle, but only if it is milk that has not already been frozen (I have too much lipase in my milk and apparently scalding it doesn’t do the trick for her). It’s really only a problem, because I don’t seem to be making as much milk and therefore can’t always pump enough (plus pumping is not my favorite thing to do). I thought maybe I could try an get her to take formula in a bottle but it was a bust. She took about 8 oz. total yesterday and I just felt so bad. :( I am going to try to pump more to increase my supply and I read the milk can stay in the refrigerator for 8 days before it is used, so I think I will stop freezing what I do pump. Then I should have enough for the few bottles I need her to take each week. Fingers cross anyway.

And since I haven’t gotten out my good camera in awhile and I always like to post pictures, I would post a few of my instagram photos up here for the grandparents and great grandparents to see…

This is from awhile back, but I love that he is watching Toy Story dressed up as Buzz.

Concentrating pretty hard during tummy time…

Aedan is so good with Adelaide. Now that she is getting more interactive he likes to talk to her and tries to give her toys all the time.

Love watching him cuddle num num and play after a long nap.

This was after Olympics day at school. They met at the YMCA instead of at school, and basically got to play all morning. He was exhausted!

Okay, time to get some work done…
