9 Months!

Yesterday Adelaide turned 9 months!

_MG_7455

Adelaide, here is what you have been to lately…

  • I think you are probably around 18 lbs. You wear mostly size 6m or 6-9m, although we have a few onesies that are 0-3m and they still fit, although they are pretty tight.
  • You wake up around 7/7:30am, take a nap from about 9:30-11 and then a second nap from 2-4ish and you go to bed around 7:30 at night. It is nice now that you don’t take a catnap in the evening. It makes it easier to go out and do things in the afternoons.
  • You take 4 larger bottles a day and then a small bottle before your afternoon nap. You still prefer to feed yourself and spit out just about any baby food I give you. You love strawberries, tortillas, and gram crackers. You still don’t eat much, which is why I give you that 5th bottle.
  • You finally hold your own bottle! So so nice! You lay on your boppy and drink you bottle on your own. When you finish, you toss it to the side and get up and start playing. :)
  • You started crawling a few weeks ago. I don’t think you like all the tile floor we have, but you are getting around just fine and exploring lots more these days. Your favorite spot is under the kitchen table, where you are constantly bumping you head on the bench or getting stuck between chairs. Fun times.
  • You are really good at running errands. You are pretty content for short car trips and you just hang out in the cart and chew on my keys.
  • You have 4 teeth. Two on top and two on the bottom. You are still drooling like crazy so maybe number 5 & 6 are coming in too?! I pretty much keep you in a bib all day, otherwise I’d have to change your outfit countless times in a day.
  • You still love watching Aedan and now that you can get around, you pretty much want to play with anything he is currently playing with. Baby toys are boring in comparison to Rescue Bots and action figures. Aedan is not so much a fan of you coming after his stuff. :)
  • I think you are slowly starting to get over your stranger anxiety. You and Aedan started going back to the sitter’s house while I work, so I think that is forcing you to get over it when I am not around. You even did well at the gym child watch this week. However, if you can see or hear either daddy or me,  you get pretty mad if someone else is holding you.
  • You are usually pretty happy and smiley and much more laid back than your brother, but you will still throw a fit if you want to be held and no one complies right away.

Adelaide, I can’t believe you are 9 months old already. You are so much fun and the perfect addition to our family. We are loving getting to know you more and more. Love, mommy.

I was looking back at Aedan’s 9 month update and that it’s about when the chair pictures started getting difficult…

Weekend & Updates

I have really been struggling to keep up with blogging on a regular basis. I think about it, then I never feel like I have much to write about. Then, when I do think of something to write about, I don’t have the time. Sigh.

We had a pretty busy weekend that went by way too fast!

Friday night we just stayed home and hung out. After dinner we played outside for awhile. Aedan runs away when I try to take his picture, at least I can still take pictures of this one. She loves watching Aedan do anything!

Saturday morning we decided to stock up at Costco. It was so busy! We quickly remembered why we always go on Friday nights! But we got what we needed and hopefully came up with a new plan to lower our grocery bill..I’ll update if it works out.

Saturday evening, we went over to my sister-in-law’s house for dinner. It is always fun to hang out with them and Aedan loves his cousin Cooper! Cooper is so good with Aedan and it is fun to watch them play!

Yesterday, Jon tackled some yard work while I did the grocery shopping. I only spent $35 for the week, thanks to our stock up at Costco. Adelaide went with me and this was my list but the time we checked out…

We had grand plans of getting the house cleaned, but it never happened. My goal this week is to deep clean each room. Today my goal is our bedroom and bathroom. I feel like I do a good job of keeping the house picked up and generally clean, but the deep cleaning…that I am not so good at.

I did get Jon to hang up the last of the curtains in the kitchen/living room. Jon’s dad hung up one set for me while they were in town last week and then Jon finished them up. This picture is not the greatest, but They look really nice!

Guess I better go get to cleaning. I can’t believe I will be writing someone’s 9 month update post during nap time today!!

Adelaide’s new favorite spot is under the kitchen table. Aedan thinks it’s a fun place too…

Writing

Remember when you had to write papers in school and the teacher used to set a word count?

I always hated that.

Probably the least favorite part of my job is writing reports. I do a full report write up when I do an initial assessment and then I do progress reports every 6 months for my clients.

I just did an initial assessment last week and I had some help with the report so it wasn’t too bad. But still ended up at 10 pages and over 4,000 words.

I just finished it up and now just have to go through and proof read it.

Actually, proof reading is probably my least favorite part. I can get all the words down, but then having to go back and read all 10 pages and 4,000+ words. Ugh.

This is why most of my blog posts contain spelling/grammar mistakes. I rarely proof read my post.

I tell Jon not to read my blog because he is a proof reader. He proof reads each and every email and document he write. It’s a good thing. Just not for me.

I mean, this is my hobby and honestly at the end of the day, I just want to get my thoughts down and not worry too much about it.

I want to write a post. Add some pictures. And hit publish.

The end.

This Week

Yikes, how is it already Friday again!!

This week has gone by pretty fast, which is nice because I’ve been a single parent since Monday morning. Jon is in New York and gets back this weekend. We can’t wait !

I did have some help from my parents for a couple of days at the beginning of the week, which was so nice! My mom and I got to spend a couple of days together. She took Aedan to the jumpy house one morning while I got some work done, and we did a little shopping.

Aedan had lots of fun at the pool with my mom and dad! #wealmostalwayshavetheplacetoourselves

20130716_172803

I had to work both Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, so today I am finally getting to enjoy nap time! Iced tea and Oreos!

20130719_141429

This morning, I took Adelaide to get a shot. It was the first time I had to take Aedan to one of her appointments, since he was in school before. He was not happy she was getting a shot. Not that he felt bad for her, but he didn’t want to have to hear her cry. Ha! She cried less than he did.

Oh, the other big new is that Adelaide is officially on the move. She started crawling last weekend, just before Jon left. Up until yesterday, she has only really gone about a foot before stopping. Now she is getting a little braver and getting places a little faster. I know it won’t be long before I am cashing her everywhere!

We are off to the pool this afternoon to swim with some friends and then tomorrow, we have a fun play date planned for the morning!

5 Things Friday!

So glad it is Friday! This week has been busy. I feel like I have a million things going on all at once.

I thought I’d do a little 5 Things Friday post before I get a week behind in blogging again.

  • I went to a Mom’s Night Out on Tuesday with some friends. We had such a good time. I am so thankful that I have met some really great friends out near us. We do a night out each month, and we love it! We went to Jack Allen’s Kitchen this week and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants.
  • I finally found curtains for our living room/kitchen area. So far we have only hung up the ones by the kitchen table, but I love them!

hdr_00011_0

  • This is our new desk area for our computer. It is nice to have a place to get some work done while Aedan and Adelaide play near me. Eventually I will get something to hang above the desk and a taller lamp, but for now it’s a function space. :)

hdr_00009_0

  • My parents are in town this weekend and we are having dinner with them and my grandmother’s tomorrow night. I know Aedan will have a blast. Adelaide is still in the mist of some stranger anxiety, so she will probably just want to be held by Jon or I. Sigh, hopefully that ends soon!
  • I started going to Zumba again this week. They moved the classes a little later for the summer so now they start right at Adelaide’s nap time. If I took her to the childcare, I know she would just cry the whole time because she would be so tired. Luckily on the days that Jon is home, he puts her down for a nap while Aedan and I go to the Y. I am looking forward to next summer, when Adelaide will probably only be taking one nap so these kind of things won’t be a problem!

Monday

Well, we are back to our normal routine around here. I guess it is not a bad thing, but it is hard. The week before last, Jon had to go into the office everyday to lead a training. Then he was off for a week. It felt weird to go back to normal after two weeks of different.

I did have to remind (and threaten time out) Aedan to stay out of the office since daddy was working. He settled for playing right outside the office. I wish I had my camera handy because at one point, I looked over and he was laying on his belly looking under the office doors. I asked him what he was doing and he said “just watching my daddy”. :)

I took a couple of weeks off from working out and counting calories. I needed a break. Luckily I didn’t gain any weight. Unfortunately, I didn’t lose any either. Ha! So today, I am back at it. I started Ripped in 30 when I put the kids down for naps this afternoon. My goal is to lose about 10 lbs before Adelaide’s first birthday.

Now that we are a month into summer, I figured it was a good time to start making some academic goals for Aedan to accomplish before he goes back to school in September. We will see how that goes…

I had a long to do list of work items to get done during nap time and I finished that, plus got a blog post up. Horray for being productive. Now I hear Adelaide waking up and since it is a cloudy afternoon, I think we will head to Target for a few things instead of going to the pool this afternoon.

And what post in complete without a picture or video.

Here is one of Aedan swimming from last week.

And here is one of Adelaide. This was last weekend. Now she will get up on all fours and rock. I am thinking she will be crawling in just a couple of weeks if not before!

This and That

I’ve been meaning to get a post up all week, but it just kept getting pushed off.  So here is what we have been up to lately…

Last weekend I headed up to Plano to throw a baby shower for my friend, Amanda. I had a great weekend! I got to spend some time with my sister and Amanda.

Jon stayed home with Aedan and Adelaide for the weekend. He did great with them and I am pretty sure they didn’t even notice I was gone! :)

I got back Monday afternoon and Jon and I have both had this whole week off. It has been really nice to just have some time to slow down and hang out as a family. We have done a lot of swimming at the pool, taking long afternoon naps and just playing around the house.

We had some friends over for the 4th of July and had a great time! Aedan stayed up WAY too late Thursday night so yesterday we just kind of hung out at home.

Today, we went to the pool yet again and then out for BBQ fro dinner. Tomorrow we have a neighborhood party that should be really fun and then its back to our normal schedule on Monday.

A few pictures from the week…

8 Months

What! How can Adelaide already be 8 months old!!

IMG_7409 - Copy - Copy

Adelaide, here is what you are up to these days…

  • I think you probably weigh 18ish lbs. You have definitely gotten more chunky this month. You pretty much wear size 6m clothes and size 3 diapers.
  • You wake up between 7/7:30 (more like 7, but I leave you in bed until 7:30) and you go to bed at 7:30 every night. For the past week, you have just taken two naps, so I think you have dropped your catnap. You sleep for about 2 hours in the morning and you have been taking 3 hour naps in the afternoon!
  • You hate playing on your tummy most of the time so you are really trying to crawl yet. You love to sit and pull toys out of baskets. You sometimes get a little too excited and kick your feet and through yourself backwards. I think it is kind of funny…you, not so much. :)
  • You are pretty easy to take anywhere. As long as either mommy or daddy holds you, you are fine.
  • You have warmed up to the pool, which is great since we are there just about everyday. You love to splash around and watch the other kids swim.
  • You still don’t like baby food. I try every now and then, but you just spit it out and then refuse to open your mouth. You love to eat anything I am eating. One night, I had you in my lap with a tortilla and I turned around to grab something and when I looked back at you, you were munching on a piece of chicken from my plate!
  • You love strawberries and pineapple the most. You will try anything we put on your tray although, most of it just goes into your lap.
  • You still think Aedan is pretty much the best thing in the world. You love to watch him do everything and you are always smiling at him.
  • You have sheet protector in your bed and you do exactly what Aedan does with his num num. You also do it with a lovey that I have been giving you since you were itty bitty. I thought you liked the lovey more than the sheet protector, but I’m not sure anymore. We may have two kids carrying around sheet protectors as blankets soon!
  • You still only have your two bottom teeth, but I think your top teeth are working on coming through.
  • You have zero interest in practicing standing up. You prefer to just sit and play.
  • You are such a happy smiley baby!

Adelaide, we love you so much. You are such the perfect addition to our little family! Love, Mommy
